Takanini Gurdwara
Location & Info
Premier Emergency Hub
Takanini Gurudwara is more than just a place of worship—it’s a trusted community anchor and one of Papakura’s designated Community Emergency Hubs.
During times of crisis, the Gurdwara opens its doors wide to support the wider community. Its newly renovated high-tech kitchen, launched in April 2024, is a key part of its emergency response capability. Originally upgraded after the COVID lockdowns and Anniversary Weekend floods, the facility has proven its value—delivering over 6,000 meals and food parcels per week during past emergencies, and continuing to support families in need every day.

A Community That Shows Up
The Supreme Sikh Society, which oversees the Gurdwara, has a long tradition of stepping in to help—no matter your background, faith, or situation. Their teams are often among the first on the ground delivering food parcels, coordinating volunteers, and supporting recovery.
From storing emergency supplies to maintaining active community patrols and even planting fruit trees for future sustainability, the Gurdwara is a shining example of resilience in action.
